TIME
EXISTS
Before Time Exists is a scenic process that has the general direction of the artist Andreia Duarte, in a shared creation with the indigenous artists Denilson Baniwa and Lilly Baniwa, and artistic direction by Kenia Dias and Ricardo Alves Júnior.
The show brings the conception that even before time existed, the distant and originary memory present in indigenous people has always shown the complexity of life and the necessary reciprocity of existences on the planet. This is how these people revere the beauty of the world in their bodies, dancing and singing to get into the rhythm of the planet.
The extended time of this experience allows an affective relationship that expands the possibilities of communication between existences. It is a place of connection where the wind, the animal, the vegetable, the spirits of the forest, the rain, and the humans are beings that access their habitats, food, have personality, and relate to each other.
The creative process happened in stages, with immersions of the artists and team in equipments of the city of São Paulo: SP Theater School (October 2021), Mário de Andrade Library (April 2022) and Goethe Institute (May 2022), culminating in the premiere of the show in the next edition of MITsp - São Paulo International Theater Festival, in June.
CREATIVE PROCESS
We recognize the dramaturgical continuity in the work, important to be resumed in the realization that we organized in three stages, potentiated especially through institutional partnerships with the Mário de Andrade Library, Goethe-Institut and MITsp - São Paulo International Theater Festival.
